Here is the information requested: (may be useful for others) I will be backing up this guest server and will test it for the next day or two to see if it is stable or not. I then shut it down again and changed some of the options back to "Connect at power on" (had changed these to ensure they were not causing any issue).Įverything appears to be good so far. I completed the installation using the Repair option and once completed restarted the guest without issue. Once logged on to the guest it "automatically" started the VMware Tools installation. I removed the lines from the vmx file and was then able to boot the guest and logon.

I comparted the vmx files between the guest that goes black with one of the other WinXP guests. Here is the area of the log that I found: When I compare the vmware.log file for the guest that is having the issue and another guest that is not the log file seems to have an issue at the Tools request and gets hung up.
